What is Reveillon?

Reveillon is a New Orleans tradition dating back to the 1800’s. Families would return from Christmas Eve mass and feast on a large meal until the early morning. While the tradition fizzled out as new holiday traditions began, Reveillon was reintroduced in the 1990’s. French Quarter Festivals, Inc. modernized the dinner by bringing it to local restaurants throughout the holiday season. Today, a number of New Orleans restaurants offer Reveillon dinners, drawing locals and visitors alike to embrace the new twist on the tradition.
